I’m Alvie, a Filipina married to my best friend – a Pakistani guy named Rizwan. Therefore, Filistani! Ta-da!
When I moved to Dubai in 2013, I never really thought that I’d be meeting my soulmate here. See, my only plan was to build my career and maybe check-out if I can get a Law degree. But life has other funny & awesome plans in store for me. Yes, I got a great head-start with my career but I did not go into Law School. Instead, life gave me a great partner. 😉 That is probably my favorite plot-twist ever.
So in 2016, I married the love of my life (Babe if you’re reading this, I’m putting a lot of nice & cheesy stuff about you here, I deserve a pizza). In my husband’s culture, this is what they call a love marriage. <3 <3 <3 For me, I’d call it God’s will. 🙂
Our marriage has opened my eyes to a lot of great things.
One is that my fascination about different cultures intensified. Pakistan is a country with a colorful culture just like the Philippines! I enjoyed getting to know everything about this place. Now I can’t wait to learn about other countries too through our travels. Living in Dubai has also taught me that all of us, whatever nationality, have so much similarities than we think. My experiences and exposure has strengthened my belief that culture needs to be shared in order to be appreciated.
I also noticed that my knowledge in building and retaining relationships have been better. I realized that building a harmonious relationship with our families and friends is as important as our relationship as a couple. To some, this may be an obvious thing but trust me, there are times when we lose sight of what’s around us too. I am the type who finds happiness from having a solid & great relationship with everyone around me – especially with my loved ones! Do you feel the same?
I hope to share my husband and I’s journey; our discovery of both our culture, our travels, and everything in between. Come along with us, will you? 😀
I’d be delighted to get to know you too! Just fill up the form below or connect with me through social media.
P.S. My husband thinks I’m some Filipina super model and that I am the funniest person in our house. Gosh, I love this man!
